House design, or residential design, is the process of creating plans to build a home.
A residential designer plans and designs the look and layout of a house or remodeling project in order to
tailor it to individual homeowner needs. When having a home built or remodeled, clients often have specific
ideas in mind, and a good house designer will help those ideas come to fruition. This is my approach to
house design. You, the client, comes first. You will be living in the house, and it must suit your lifestyle
first and foremost. Your ideas and desires for what you want in a floor plan and house style will always be
the top priority in my design.
A residential designer is similar to an architect, but is not a licensed architect. Their functions are
generally the same, but an architect has more extensive training and structural expertise. But a house designer
coupled with a structural engineer can accomplish a similar end-product as an architect, at cost savings
to the client.
If you are deciding to have a custom home built, you probably have quite a few ideas of what the house should look like,
and how the rooms should flow. As a residential designer, I am here to listen to your ideas, and bring them to fruition.
I want the house to be exactly what you envisioned. If you don't have a lot of ideas on the design, I am more than happy
to dictate the direction of the design and plans, soliciting your feedback along the way.
